COURSE OUTLINE
This is a two semester sophomore course that will include the following topics of study:

Semester One:
·         The Roman Empire
·         The Middle Ages
·         Renaissance & Reformation
·         Exploration & Absolutism
·         Enlightenment & Revolution
·         Industrialization

Semester Two:
·         Imperialism
·         WWI
·         Russian Revolution
·         WWII
·         Cold War
·         Modern Europe
The course textbook is:   World History: Patterns of Interaction

Evaluation:
  • 15%  Projects, Outside Reading and Research Paper
  • 15%  Homework and Notes: On-time and complete/notes will be checked at regular intervals
  • 20% Quizzes: both scheduled and unannounced
  • 30%  Tests: multiple choice and essay
  • 10%  Semester CUMULATIVE Final
  • 10%  Participation: Contribution to class discussion, group participation, class conduct and coming to class prepared (book, three-ring binder, notes, pen/pencil). Each day you will start class with 5 points.  If you are unprepared, off task or not participating, you will lose points. 
Expectations:
·         Come to class prepared and ready to learn.  Each day you need to have your textbook, pen/pencil, notebook/3-ring binder and a positive attitude.   
·         No cell-phones in class.  If I see it or suspect use, it is mine for the remainder of the day.
·         Please come to class on-time.  If you are tardy more than four times, you have earned detention, (cleaning desks is my favorite!).
·         Please be respectful of your fellow classmates.  If someone else is sharing his/her ideas, you are listening.  We are a learning community; please behave as such.

Cheating/Plagiarism:
This is defined as submitting another person's work or ideas as your own, submitting dishonest work/activity records, copying, etc. School policy will be followed if plagiarism occurs.

Grading Scale:
A    93-100%               C    73-75%
A-   90-92%                C-   70-72%
B+  86-89%                 D    60-69%
B    83-85%                 F     59% and
B-   80-82%                         below
C+  76-79%
